ABOUT JULIE DE LIBRAN

Julie de Libran is a child of two continents. Born in Aix-en-Provence, France, she moved to San Diego, California with her family in 1980, spending ten formative years there. It was as a young California girl that she first fell in love with fashion. By her teenage years, she was already turning her earliest sketches into dresses, collaborating with local seamstresses to bring her visions to life.

Returning to Europe, Julie honed her craft at two of fashion’s most prestigious schools — the Istituto Marangoni in Milan and the Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne in Paris. Her career unfolded between Milan and Paris, the two capitals of fashion excellence.

From 1991 to 1994, she worked alongside Gianfranco Ferré in Milan, before being personally invited by Gianni Versace to join him as an assistant in 1996. Two years later, she joined Prada, where over the next decade she rose to become Design Director and the right hand of Miuccia Prada, overseeing women’s ready-to-wear, made-to-measure, celebrity dressing, and lingerie collections.

In 2008, she returned to Paris, serving for six years as Creative Director for women’s ready-to-wear and Head of the Design Studio at Louis Vuitton under Marc Jacobs. A natural next step awaited: in 2014, she was appointed Artistic Director of the legendary house of Sonia Rykiel, where she led the brand for five celebrated years.

In June 2019, Julie de Libran launched her own label: Julie de Libran Paris. A deeply personal project, the brand is a reflection of her vision, values, and commitment to craftsmanship. Her creations transcend trends — timeless pieces designed to be cherished, worn, and loved for years to come.
